The Government of Goa intends to create and nurture a globally competitive Information Technology ecosystem that powers the State’s economic growth, and firmly establishes Goa as a preferred destination for investment in high-end software products, service capabilities and electronics & system design manufacturing sector.
In order to take these initiatives forwards, the Government of Goa is in the process of developing the Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) at Tuem village of Pernem taluka. This EMC is being developed in an area measuring 5,97,125 square meters. The land is spread across survey nos. 81/0, 82/0, 84/0, 85/0, 98/0, 99/0, 100/0,101/0, 102/0, 103/0 and 104/0 in Tuem Village of Pernem Taluka. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India, has granted assistance under Electronics Manufacturing Clusters (EMC) Scheme to setup the said Greenfield Electronics Manufacturing Cluster.
The key objectives of the Government for developing the EMC are as follows:
a) To develop Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Tuem, Pernem Taluka, Goa with world class ecosystem for Electronics Industries.
b)To promote local employment generation through proposed Electronic Manufacturing Cluster
c) To promote development of nearby villages giving community services at the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster at Tuem
d)To promote CSR activity through electronic manufacturing companies located within the project.
