Vasco Government Industrial Training Institute

Introduction :

Vasco Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) is situated at Bogda-Sada, located in picturesque, water-locked Mormugao Talukha, of South Goa District, which is well connected by Sea, Rail, Road and even Air transport.

It is a leading ITI in Goa with a current Central Government accredited ‘3.12 stars’ grading and is blessed to be sitting in an ’employment-hub’, with Central Public Sector Undertakings, like M/s. Mormugao Port Trust, M/s. Goa Shipyard Limited, all major Petroleum Companies, M/s. Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited and other multinational and local Establishments based in Vasco City itself, as well as, the nearby Sancoale & Verna prominent Industrial Estates. Most of our pass-outs are absorbed for either Apprenticeship Training or gainful Job-Employment by these Establishments.

This ITI operates under the Directorate of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of Goa and the Directorate General of Training (DGT), under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, New Delhi and is the only ITI in the State implementing the “Upgradation of 1396 Government ITIs, under the Public Private Partnership (PPP)” Scheme of the Central Government, with M/s. Zuari Agro Chemicals Limited as the Industry Partner for the same.

Similarly, M/s. Goa Shipyard Limited too, has generously adopted this ITI for upgradation under its ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’ (CSR) Scheme .

Our ITI offers various long-term / short-term, ‘token’ fee-based, skill- development training-courses in the Engineering and Non-engineering Segments, as per the syllabus and curriculum approved by the Government of India, in consultation with, the National / State Councils for Vocational training (NCVT / SCVT), New Delhi / Goa and through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), New Delhi and concerned ‘Sector Skills Councils’ for the ‘free of cost’, employment-oriented, short-term / modular ‘job-role’ training-course/s, offered under the flag-ship scheme of the Central Government, namely: the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY).

The courses offered include: the Computer Operator and Programming Assistant, Desktop Publishing Operator, Electrician, Wiremen, Fitter, Mechanic Refrigeration and Air Conditioner, Welder (NSQF-4), Mechanic Diesel Engine, Mechanic Electronics and Plumber trades that are affiliated to National Council Vocational training (NCVT) – New Delhi, India.

One of the Courses, namely: the Welder (NSQF-4) Trade, happens to be the only Trade-Course in Goa, being now implemented through the Dual System of Training (DST), under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with M/s. Zuari Engineering Services – Sancoale, a long-standing, local ‘MSME’ and with due approval of the Central Government.

While, two relatively new courses being offered, namely: the Attendant Operator Chemical Plant (AOCP) and Welder (NSQF-3) trades, stand presently affiliated to the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) – Panaji, Goa.

Most of our ITI Courses are also already National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant, while this ITI is also currently the only Basic Training Provider (BTP) accredited/recognized by the Central Government, under the Apprentices Act 1961, in the State.
