Summary of the Department and its activities

The Office of Ombudsman has been set up under the Goa Government Employees (Redressal of Grievances Forum) Scheme, 2001. The office is headed by the Authority called Ombudsman. The appointment to the post of Ombudsman is made by the Government under Clause 3 of the Goa Government Employees (Redressal of Grievances Forum) Scheme, 2001 for the purpose of hearing the grievances or complaints concerning service matters of the Government employees and for the Redressal thereof.

The staff for the Office of Ombudsman is provided by the General Administration Department of Secretariat with the prior approval of the Government Subject to the directions of the Government, the Ombudsman may entertain, here and dispose of with recommendation any grievances, petition or complaints pertaining to any service matters of a Government employee or Government employees, including promotions but shall not deal with matter of pay anomally and implementation of any part of the State or Central Pay Commission’s Report.
