Introduction :
The Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board is a statutory Organization engaged in the promotion of Village Industries Mumbai. The Schematic funds for the implementation of the various schemes are provided by KVIC, Mumbai/Govt. of India and by Government of Goa while the expenditure towards the establishment is borne by the Government of Goa through Directorate of Industries as “Grant-in-aid.”
Prime Ministers Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP)
The Government of India has formulated a scheme called “Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which is a credit linked subsidy programme. The PMEGP is one of the most beneficial Government sponsored programme. The scheme provides subsidy @ 15% to 35% depending upon the category of the borrower and location of the project for projects up to Rs.25 lakhs under manufacturing sector and up to Rs.10 lakhs under service sector.

During the year 2020-21. Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board has identified 115 Proposals with Project cost of Rs.1316.36 lakhs involving subsidy of Rs. 428.07 lakhs which were recommended to the Bank, out of which 34 proposals with the project cost of Rs. 277.95 lakhs and involving subsidy of Rs. 90.87 lakhs have been sanctioned (as on 31/12/2021) which have capacity to generate employment for 272 persons. Out of the proposal sanctioned 12 were provided with subsidy to the tune of Rs. 38.95 lakhs involving project cost of Rs.117.20 lakhs (as on 31/12/2020). So also 25 awareness camps have been conducted during the year, to propogate PMEGP in the State. The entire process of the implementation of PMEGP is being undertaken through online Portal.
Cluster Development Program
The Goa Khadi & Village Industries Board has been nominated as nodal agency by the Government of Goa to implement Cluster Development Programme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India, under this programme a maritime cluster with project cost of Rs.16.21 cores has been proposed and the proposal is under consideration of the Ministry of MSME, Government of India.
Scheme for Promotion of Beekeeping Industry
Government of Goa has notified a new Scheme for Promotion of Beekeeping on 07/01/2020. The Scheme has been taken up for implementation during the year 2020-21.
Under this Scheme 139 beneficiaries have been identified and 221 bee boxes have been sanctioned. So also 53 persons have been trained under beekeeping by Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board.
