The Goa Khadi and Village Industries Board is a statutory Organisation engaged in the promotion of Village Industries and other activities under the purview of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Mumbai. The Schematic funds for the implementation of the various schemes are provided by KVIC, Mumbai/Govt. of India, while the expenditure towards the establishment is borne by the Government of Goa through Directorate of Industries as “Grant-in-aid.”
The Government of India has formulated a scheme called “Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which is a credit linked subsidy programme. The PMEGP is one of the most beneficial Government sponsored programme. The scheme provides subsidy @ 15% to 35% depending upon the category of the borrower and location of the project for projects up to Rs.25 lakhs under manufacturing sector and up to Rs.10 lakhs under service sector.
During the year 2019-20, 63 proposals with project cost of Rs.519.93 lakhs and involving subsidy of Rs.169.87 lakhs have been sanctioned (as on 22/01/2020) which will generate employment for 498 persons. Out of the proposal sanctioned 28 were provided with subsidy to the tune of Rs.64.47 lakhs involving project cost of Rs.201.19 lakhs (as on 22/01/2020). The entire process of uploading the application processing and release of subsidy is being implemented through online portal.
During the year 2019-20 KVIB has been entrusted with the job of supplying school uniform and rain coat to primary level students of Std. I and III of all the Government Primary Schools in the State. The contract has been completed successfully.
The Goa Khadi & village Industries Board has been appointed as nodal Agency for National Scheduled caste Scheduled Tribe Hub (NSSH). Skill Development programmes and awareness camps have been undertaken for SC & ST entrepreneurs under National Schedule Caste Schedule Tribe Hub programme in association with District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) and Goa Schedule Tribe Finance and Development Corporation (GSTFDC).
The Goa Khadi & Village Industries Board is implementing Honey Mission Programme in the State under which a Target of 500 beehives for ST entrepreneurs have been fixed. Under this programme 35 candidates of ST community have been trained. These candidates shall be provided with 10 beehives each at 10% of the cost of beehive and other allied equipments in the first phase 215 bee hives have been procured for 43 farmers. Beekeeping training programmes have been conducted in association with Agriculture Technology management Agency(ATMA).
Scheme for training in Khadi and Village Industries has been implemented and training programmes in Bakery, Readymade Garments, Cotton Wicks etc. have been organized.
The Goa Khadi & Village Industries Board has been appointed as nodal agency to implement Cluster Development Programme of Ministry of MSME, Government of India, under which Gold Jewellery Cluster proposal has been formulated in North Goa. The Ministry of MSME has accorded in principle approval for the same. Maritime Shipbuilding Cluster has been formulated under Cluster Development programme and proposal to set up a common facility centre with the project cost of Rs. 16.21 crores has been forwarded to Government of India for approval.
