The Institute Menezes Braganza, is an prominient cultural institution of long standing repute in Goa, promotes language/ literature, art and culture in the state. Formaly known as the Institute Vasco Da Gama was established on 24th November 1871 was renamed after Goa’s liberation as Institute Menezes Braganza in 1963. It was controlled and financed by the govt. of Goa, subsequently in 1997, the existence of the said institute came to an end and the Govt. of Goa re-established the Institute as a new Society and registered it under the Registration of Societies Act 1860.

The aims and objectives of the Institute Menezes Braganza focus mainly on the promotion of activities in the fields of Language, Literature, Art & Culture in Goa. It primarily seeks to promote Goan talent in allied areas and to meet the versatile cultural interests of Goan society as a whole.
The Institute Menezes Braganza is also collaborating its activities with other like minded institutions such as National Book trust, New delhi, Sahitya Akademi, Goa Konkani Academi, Gomantak Marathi Academi, Gomantak Sahitya Sevak Mandal several other institutions/ organizing literary, academic and other related activities.
The Institute Menezes Braganza is also providing other facilities by way of
- Providing a common platform for interactions such as symposia, Panel discussion, lectures, talks, debates, elocution contests, recitals and performances.
- Organizing conferences, seminars, literary festivals, Poet’s meets, workshops, exhibitions and competitions etc.
- Publishing Books, Seminar papers, souvenirs, pamphlets, conference proceedings, bulletin/ournals and to create a valuable database information.
