Department Of Goa Gazetteer And Historical Records

Introduction :

Goa Gazetteer was established in the year 1970. The name of the Goa Goa Gazetteer was changed to Department of Goa Gazetteer and Historical Records vide Notification No. 23/01/87-GA&C (Vol. V)/2123 dated 06th June 2023 (Publised in the Official Gazette Series I, No.10 dated 8th June 2023, p.980). Currently the department is dealing with the work of compilation and publication of Gazetteer and Trials of freedom fighters under ‘Source Material for the History of Freedom Movement of Goa’. Department is headed by the Executive Editor and supported by Technical and Administrative Staff. The Department has published “Gazetteer of the Union Territory Goa Daman and Diu” in two parts (First Edition in 1979, reprinted in 2009), two volumes of “Who’s Who of Freedom Fighters” and Trials of Freedom Fighters. Trials are translated into English from the Portuguese files preserved in Goa Archives and published in book form. Publications of the Department are for sale in the office of Department of Goa Gazetteer and Historical Records, BSNL Telephone Exchange Building, Miramar-Goa, 403002.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday – 9.30 a.m. to 1.15 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5.45 p.m.
