The Government of Goa focuses a lot on the employment for its youth. Since the Goan youth have an advantage of good English speaking skills which be required for ITES/BPO Companies, Government of Goa has identified 3 locations for development as IT Parks to attract ITES/BPO Companies to start their business in Goa

• Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat, Dona-Paula.
• Priyadarshini IT Park, Socorro-Porvorim.
• IT Retreat, Mandrem.

The Government has planned to develop these IT Parks in the rural areas to develop e-Infrastructure for the citizens of Goa. This will help increase employment, provide better opportunities for the villagers and other citizens, and have better Government-Citizen interface.

Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat ,Dona-Paula

Government of Goa has decided to built, Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat in a small village of Dona Paula situated seven kilometers away from the State capital Panaji. Dona Paula is a former village, on the suburbs, in the former Portuguese colony of Goa in India. It is today home to the National Institute of Oceanography, and just alongside it, lies the Goa University and the International Centre Goa.

Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat is an integrated project developed in an area of around 95 acres, which is divided into plot size of 1,2,3 & 4 acres.

Goal of Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat:

• Aimed at attracting IT / ITES / BPO /KPO Industries.
• Targeted to employ around 10,000 to 12,000 candidates.
• Investment envisaged is around Rs. 800 to Rs. 1000 Crores.

Development of basic infrastructure is in advance state

• IT Habitat Building - Built-up space 15,000 Sq. Mts.
• Mall- Built-up space 30,000 Sq. Mts. for commercial activities.
• Club House/Service Apartments- Built-up space 15,000 Sq. Mts.
• Residential Apartments- Built-up space 30,000 Sq. Mts.
• Jogging and Landscape Park.

Priyadarshini IT Park, Socorro-Porvorim

The name of the village, Socorro is a Portuguese name and comprises the Porvorim stretch of the Mapuca - Panaji road

The IT Park will be developed in an area of around 250 acres. Infrastructure work is already started. Aimed at attracting Large and Medium IT Companies. Expected to employ around 5,000 candidates.

IT Retreat, Mandrem

The Pernem taluka has 12 Comunidades and one of them is Mandrem. Government of Goa plans to establish an IT Retreat in an area of around 44 acre, in order to facilitates IT professionals to get together for training, workshops, seminars and conferences amidst recreation, refreshment and rejuvenation.

All these will help it march ahead towards betterment. Thus attracting more investments in IT sector.
