The Government of Goa focuses a lot on the employment for its youth. Since the Goan youth have an advantage of good English speaking skills which be required for ITES/BPO Companies, Government of Goa has identified 3 locations for development as IT Parks to attract ITES/BPO Companies to start their business in Goa
The Government has planned to develop these IT Parks in the rural areas to develop e-Infrastructure for the citizens of Goa. This will help increase employment, provide better opportunities for the villagers and other citizens, and have better Government-Citizen interface.
Government of Goa has decided to built, Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat in a small village of Dona Paula situated seven kilometers away from the State capital Panaji. Dona Paula is a former village, on the suburbs, in the former Portuguese colony of Goa in India. It is today home to the National Institute of Oceanography, and just alongside it, lies the Goa University and the International Centre Goa.
Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat is an integrated project developed in an area of around 95 acres, which is divided into plot size of 1,2,3 & 4 acres.
Goal of Rajiv Gandhi IT Habitat:
Development of basic infrastructure is in advance state
The IT Park will be developed in an area of around 250 acres. Infrastructure work is already started. Aimed at attracting Large and Medium IT Companies. Expected to employ around 5,000 candidates.
All these will help it march ahead towards betterment. Thus attracting more investments in IT sector.
